DIY Floral Arrangement!

Does anyone love Trader Joe’s like I do? Actually, I feel like a lot of people do that know about it haha!

Not only did Trader Joe’s help me a TON when I went gluten free, because of all their gluten free options (highly recommend), but Trader Joe’s also grew my love for creating floral arrangements (because they have the best fresh/seasonal flowers)!

I LOVE flowers, especially the whimsical ones. I have bought myself flowers for years, to have out at home. It definitely adds on to the grocery bill, but it also adds a lot of happy vibes to your home…in my opinion. :)

I have seen a lot of videos/blogs on DIY’s creating floral arrangements which have taught me through the years how to put a few packs of flowers together and make them come alive. I truthfully am not as up there as other florists and admire them so much! But, I do enjoy trying to do what they do haha.

You may or may not have seen my Instagram Reel documenting my floral arrangement from Trader Joe’s. That was actually my FIRST purposeful vlog/reel, and I cannot wait to make more! (It is actually more time consuming and thought out than I could’ve imagined, so cheers to those that do this regularly!) :)

Let’s begin!

If you have never been into Trader Joe’s and checked out their flower section, you have to! When you first walk into Trader Joe’s, no matter which one, you should see the flower section. They have tons of flowers, especially the ones that are in season at a particular time. You can definitely just grab one pack of the same flower but if you’re feeling daring, at least start with two packs. Sometimes I buy one, sometimes I buy two, and sometimes I buy five haha…depending on the day and what I am wanting to enjoy at home. This day I was going for a Valentine’s Day theme because I LOVE pink and red together. I knew I wanted carnations (because they tend to live longer) and I knew I wanted a pack of red roses. But, when I was there, I saw ranunculus flowers, which are one of my favs! With two packs of red flowers and one pink, I needed some dimension (that’s also what I recommend when you’re shopping to spice up an arrangement)! Adding greenery for dimension really helps bring your arrangement together! I then grabbed two whimsical greenery/floral packs and went on my way! (This was a five pack flower day, oh boy, haha).

When I first begin creating my arrangements I love to add the flower food and cut my stems however short I want them in the vase. I once heard that it is better to cut your flower stems at an angel before putting them in your vase. (And, if you happened to get tulips, only fill up your vase with water about two inches, they’ll last longer).

Now, I like to start with the biggest flower first because I like to put in the greenery or whichever more whimsical floral last, to pop. If you find yourself getting frustrated along the way thinking it’s not as cute as you hoped…that happens to me too haha. But it comes together at the end! You’ll see in my video that once I added my more whimsical ones, it came together! If you have to take some out and put them back in later, do it! If you have to make some stems shorter than other’s, which I recommend, do it! It’s definitely a talent to develop! And to be honest, flowers are gorgeous regardless, haha, so don’t worry!

I hope my video helps you! I am definitely a visual person! If you need more guidance, you can search up DIY floral arrangements too on Instagram or Pinterest to get more inspo. People do a bunch of different things to help their arrangements come together!

Please reach out if you need any more help from me or just want to share your creation! I can’t wait! Oh, and please share any tips/tricks you may have!

Have a wonderful day, and remember, God loves you, sees you, and wants to be with you through all your hills and valleys. He is forever faithful.

Love,

Allie <3 :)
