Fear - Welcome to my Blog!

I always wanted to start a blog, or write a book, or help someone, in some way, through my own lives journey. But fear…

Fear to begin, and the emotions that it could bring me to relive certain moments. Or fear, to share my own life’s journey with the world. I would think,

What would people think?

What would people say?

What if I wasn’t the best writer?

What if my words didn’t help?

For years, I have been thinking the same thoughts and the same fearful thoughts would stop me from living a dream of mine.

To be quite honest, I have struggled with fear for a very long time. I think fear impacts us all, in some way. But mine, was always about being afraid to show the real me. Or, I guess you could say, I didn’t feel ready or good enough. And there it is, that fear. That fear that stops you from being what, maybe, God created you to be.

That’s what the enemy does, you know, makes us afraid of our own short comings, because he knows just how powerful we really are. Just how incredible God created us to be. He twists the very beauty God created in all of us to look dull and like something it’s not. The enemy loves fear but fear is a liar like the musician Zach Williams says.

The enemy twists Gods word. Just think about what the enemy said to Adam and Eve in Eden…

“Did God really say, ‘You shall not eat from any of the trees in the garden’?”

- Genesis 3:1

The enemy does the same to us, day in and day out. I am sure you have heard similar twisted lies.

Maybe some like,

Did God really say, you are a child of God?

YES 1 John 3:1

Did God really say, you are His beloved?

YES 1 John 4

Did God really say, you can do all things through Him who strengthens you?

YES Philippians 4:13

I could go on and on…

Being aware of fear and how the enemy can use it to harm you is most important.

Of course, fear can protect us in certain situations and of course we have Fear of the Lord that is a gift of Grace to keep coming back to God and love Him more fully. But I think being aware of the twisted way the enemy can use it to stop us in our tracks is again, most important. And it is most important because God has created us for so much more. God doesn’t want us to believe that the fear we may feel would ever come from Him. Because out of everyone in your life, He is the one that knows you most. He is the one that created you. And He is the one that put that desire on your heart to dream big and believe those dreams will come to pass. Or to believe in yourself period.

So, am I still afraid? Well, yes and I probably will be here and there. But I know that kind of fear is not from God. And I have to trust God is involved in my desire to help others see His truth or feel less alone in their own struggles. Because you aren’t. And I hope you see that through the chapters of my own life.

Again, I truly hope you feel the Lord is with you when you come here.

And remember,

“Fear is a liar.”

The word fear in the expression “fear of the Lord” means awe or profound respect. It does not mean literal fear of God’s power but an awe and respect for the absolute majesty of God. We should “fear” offending God not because of His just punishment but because He is all good and deserving of our love.

- Fr. Charles Grondin
